Volunteer Manager

Job: Volunteer Manager

Location: Anywhere
Type: Management; Volunteer
Reports to: Event Manager

About the Role

Our comic convention runs on the energy, passion, and dedication of an incredible volunteer force, and we need a Volunteer Manager to lead them. You’ll be the architect of our volunteer program, responsible for recruiting, training, scheduling, and supporting hundreds of enthusiastic fans who help bring the event to life.

If you thrive in organized chaos, love working with people, and can rally a team like a superhero assembling their squad, this role is for you.

Responsibilities

Recruitment & Onboarding: Develop and execute volunteer recruitment campaigns, screen applicants and match roles based on skills and interests, and create onboarding materials and conduct orientation sessions.

Training & Support: Design and deliver training programs for various volunteer roles, serve as the primary point of contact for volunteer questions and concerns, and foster a positive, inclusive, and fun volunteer culture.

Scheduling & Logistics: Build and manage shift schedules across all roles, coordinate check-in/out procedures and distribute credentials, and ensure volunteers are properly equipped and briefed for their roles.

Event Execution: Monitor volunteer performance and troubleshoot issues in real time, recognize and reward outstanding contributions, and conduct post-event debriefs and gather feedback for future improvements.

Time Commitment

The Volunteer Manager will be expected to meet with event leadership 1-2 times a month between November 2025 and August 2026 and then weekly from September 2026 to the event.

6+ Months Out: 1-2 Hours a Week

3-6 Months Out: 3-5 Hours a Week

3-1 Months Out: 5-8 Hours a Week

Month Of Event: Up to 10 Hours a Week

Week Of Event: 12-15 Hours

Weekend Of Event: Full Time

Perks & Compensation

Include backstage access to one of the coolest fandom events of the year. A chance to work with creators, artists, and industry legends. Free passes, swag, and maybe even a cape (no promises). A chance to shape the voice of a growing pop culture movement.

Like other comic conventions and festivals, our roles are all volunteer positions. We hope to eventually compensate for management roles once the Better Feelings Foundation’s fundraising goals are regularly met.
